Cops that kill dogs?

Why does this happen so often? Its like come cops will shoot a dog just because the dog ran up to them. Honestly even if a dog bites you, you don't just shoot it. It makes me so mad to see these types of things in the news, cops that kill dogs are the lowest shit dwellers on the planet. Is there not any laws against this??
